Banking technology

Development process

Western Bank, formerly known as Co Do Bank, was established in late 1988 and operated in Can Tho City with an initial charter capital of 320 million VND. It officially transitioned to an urban bank model in June 2007. With a focus on stable and sustainable development to gradually build a retail bank based on modern technology, after more than 4 years of transitioning the model with the efforts of all bank employees, Western Bank:

  • Western Bank has experienced growth in finance, personnel, and its operational network, with an average annual growth rate of 2 times, specifically:
    • The charter capital reached 1,000 billion VND, with total assets over 10,000 billion VND as of December 31, 2009.
    • The charter capital reached 3,000 billion VND at the beginning of 2011.
    • Achieved over 78 transaction points in 20 provinces and cities across the country.
    • Over 827 young staff members (more than 90% under 40 years old), and all transaction employees have undergone training in banking operations and skills.
  • Western Bank is currently the only bank using fingerprint technology in banking transactions.
